Repair & Preparation

Most doors that come in for a respray need something fixing first. A chipped edge, a swollen corner under the sink, a screw hole in the wrong place. Coating over any of it is money spent twice.

Damage gets found at strip, not at quote. Photographs do not show a soft corner or a lifted laminate edge, which is why the repair line on the price list is a minimum rather than a fixed figure.

MDF that has taken water swells irreversibly. Sometimes it fills and sands back cleanly; sometimes the honest answer is a new door. We would rather tell you that at the start.

Edges are the usual culprit. Unsealed MDF edges drink moisture from cleaning and swell from the outside in, which is why sealing them properly is part of every job here.

Questions we actually get

My doors are chipped. Do they need replacing?
Often not. Chips, dents and hardware holes fill and sand back cleanly. Water damage is the one that sometimes cannot be saved: MDF that has swollen has changed shape permanently. Send photos and we will tell you which it is.
Why is repair a minimum price rather than a fixed one?
Because the real condition only shows once a door is stripped. Photographs will not show you a soft corner or an edge that has started lifting. The price list carries a minimum, and anything beyond it is scoped once we can see it.
