Skirting, Bulkheads & Cornices
Long, narrow, moulded sections are priced by the metre because that is how they behave. A three metre skirting board is one continuous surface, and it either reads straight along its whole length or it does not.

Long runs are sighted along, not looked at square on. A ripple you cannot see face-on is obvious from the end of the room, which is where these get checked.
Moulded sections have the same problem as routed doors: internal corners that want to load up, and profiles that soften if too much material goes on.
Sections 80mm wide and below carry a lower rate than moulded skirts, bulkheads and cornices. Tell us which you have and we will point at the right line on the price list.

- Why is skirting priced by the metre and not by area?
- Because that is how the work scales. A long narrow section is one continuous surface and the labour tracks its length, not its square metreage. The price list has two linear rates: one for sections 80mm and below, and one for moulded skirts, bulkheads and cornices.
