Unsealed MDF edges take moisture from cleaning and swell from the outside in. On a vanity that happens fastest at the bottom edge, where water sits.
The damage only showed properly at strip. Photographs will not show you a soft corner, which is why the repair line on the price list is a minimum rather than a fixed figure.
Five of the six pieces filled and sanded back level. The sixth had swollen too far to save: MDF that has taken that much water has changed shape permanently, and coating over it would have been money spent twice.
Every edge sealed properly before priming. That is the step that decides whether the same thing happens again in three years.
Sometimes the honest answer is a new door. Better said at the start than at the end.
